Two Fridays to Christmas

Just two more Fridays and it will be....

CHRISTMAS DAY!!!

The tree has gone up!

With Sophie's help and a few festive tunes!

I've done a bit of overtime this week, so the festive decorating has been done in stages. The main tree and one set of lights got done on Monday before work. The second set of lights went up on Tuesday after work and then on Wednesday after work, we decorated the tree. 

The sitting room got my full attention on the Thursday! 

Old bits, new bits, Christmas wouldn't be the same without bits!!

The old Christmas cards came out too. A tradition dating back to my first Christmases with Jeff and my envy at his Mum's Christmas card selection. I keep old Christmas cards and every year display them, just like treasured decorations. When I first met Jeff and went to his house for Christmas, I was really envious of the lovely cards his mum had up. It was only after a couple of years, I realised she just displayed her favourite cards year after year. We joke whether the card we send to each other every year, will be a 'keeper' and make the cut of a forever card x

Day Trippers

So this morning we got up early and headed down to Cornwall for the day. Jeff is still working but Sam had the day off and as he's Granny's FAVOURITE 'her Sam' as she calls him, we put a bow around him and gave him to granny for a couple of hours, as her early Christmas present!!

We remained socially distanced, a good 2m away, wore masks, windows open...

...it was lovely to see her, looking so well too, after a recent stay in hospital due to a fall. 

I wish more than anything I could have given her a big hug but seeing her was lovely.

We stopped off at Portreath to see the sea, get my fix!!

Boy was it blowy!!

Reminds me of the days when you got to Granny's house and couldn't even open the car door as the winds were so strong. Certainly blew the cobwebs away.

We then met up with Mum and Dad, did the present swap! 

Sadly that's my Christmas celebrations done with my side of the family. We prove far too greater risk to them all, to spend more time with them over Christmas, bubbles or no bubbles. So for this year that's my Merry Christmas, hoping to get in another visit before the inevitable next lockdown, after the festive five day madness is over come January!

Sam drove home, plenty of tunes ringing out... 

....and the most incredible sunset after a wet and blustery day.

3 Fridays to Christmas!!

Can't quite believe that it's just three more Fridays to Christmas!!

I've stopped procrastinating and written my cards....

.... finished them off today and even got them in the post!

I've made a start on wrapping, although I must say, 

I've not much to wrap this year!

This morning I got up early and did some baking.

And I've changed the bedding to be a little more festive.

The Christmas tops are now being rotated daily, even when I'm not at work!

And this week, Lockdown Round Two ended! 

We're in Tier two here in Somerset, which sadly means we can't meet others indoors, 

so no belated birthday meal with a friends or my sister yet!

As you know, I've spent lockdown getting outside in the fresh air, walking as much as I could. All within a 5 mile radius of the house. Was conscious of not making non essential journeys but once lockdown was lifted, I did feel I could justify a drive over to my favourite place....

....Stockhill Woods.

It's not even that far from home but it felt wrong to make that journey, 

when we as a country were supposed to be in lockdown.

I have only recently discovered it and I have a few other places I now what to explore too. Shame it's just a bit too busy at home at the moment, with all the Christmas prep, less time to go adventuring!

It's the perfect place to practice my photography.

Spotify's 2020 Wrapped Up landed this week. I use Spotify the least out of everyone at home, as I still like to listen to CD's in the car but wasn't surprised by my top band and we only went and got tickets to see them play in October 2021 (all being well by then!)

Anyway time to go and put the kettle on. Coffee for sure will be the main thing to get me through the next few weeks. I'm doing extra at work, plus all the Christmas prep. We're probably one of the few households this year, to not have put up our tree yet - next weekend, as we always do!!

Pinch and a punch....

.....hello December.

And the most stunning sunrise to start the day and the new month.

We are Advent ready!

The Christmas robin has made it's annual appearance, the chocolate tin is ready and full, the Christmas candle is ready to light, the Christmas serviettes ready to use and...

....we each have our Advent calendars. 

Paper ones for Sophie, Sam and I and Jeff has a tea one to enjoy this year.

The wreath is on the door...

...and a new addition, sparkly confetti lights up in the kitchen!

From now until Christmas, we get to wear a Christmas jumper to work. 

Only have twelve to choose from!!!

But I do now have to crack on and get my Christmas cards written. 

It looks to be wet, rainy on Thursday, if that's the case, that'll be my job for Thursday.

So I suspect many of you will have your trees already up, which I totally get, this being the year it's been but we won't be doing ours until the 10th at the earliest, more likely the 12th when Sophie is off work. I love Christmas but would be fed up of the clutter by the big day, so will be dripping in my festive cheer, like every year, as we nudge closer to the big day x
