St Piran Award

Thursday was St Piran's Day!

Cornwall's National day of celebration.

I was born in Cornwall, all my grandparents lived there and it's where my parents live now.

Cornwall to me is Portreath, Godrevy and St Ives. It's yeast buns, clotted cream, pasties and fish and chips by the sea. It's the Pepperpot, seagulls, fields of daffodils, Cornishware pottery. It's family times, rock pools, beach days, childhood summer holidays.

Super proud and pleased for my Dad, being awarded......

....The St Piran's Cross by the Bishop yesterday,
in recognition of 35yrs of service to Trevenson Church. He devotes hours of his time. Really well deserved and so glad he's had some recognition for all the time and effort he gives voluntarily.

So this week....a mix of weathers and emotions.
On Monday we said goodbye to a work colleague Paul. He was only 59 yrs old and passed away after a very short illness. The crematorium was packed. He was a lovely man who enjoyed gardening, so much so, he embraced Naked Gardeners Day (the first Saturday in May). I won't be getting naked!! But I will always think of him on the first Saturday in May and smile!!

We've celebrated the Worm Moon this week,
March's full moon and the first full moon of the Spring season.

So called, as it refers to when earthworms begin to emerge from the soil
as the weather warms in springtime.

Speaking of warming days, we've also had a couple of fantastically lovely, warm, sunshiny weather days worth celebrating. I managed to get the beds stripped, washed and out on the line before work.

It's always soooo frustrating to have to be inside when the weather is glorious outside. I always feel that it's a waste of a 'good weather day'!! My little area in the gallery can be quite chilly, as I'm by a huge window, but come 3pm, if it's sunny, it becomes a greenhouse and I get bathed in glorious warm sunshine.

The school grounds are looking absolutely beautiful.

I'm bringing a bunch of daffodils into work with me each week, just to cheer things along.
This exhibition has been quite quiet but we've had some lovely visitors in to chat to.

It really does feel that we have shifted up a gear in terms of weather. Although saying that, today we are sat under a blanket of damp, grey cloud. The neighbours Magnolia tree is beginning to flower and always looks beautiful and heralds the start of Spring.

I'm having a quiet day today, just like last Sunday. Sam is in Bristol, back later today. Jeff is out, refereeing a football game and I'm waiting for a Sainsbury's delivery and catching up with a few things here at home. 7pm tonight, I will be sat in front of the TV watching Harry Styles' 'One Night in Manchester', showcasing the first live performance of his new album 'Kiss All the Time, Disco Occasionally'. Can't wait to see him perform live in the summer xx And then it's the Great Pottery Throw Down final. I love that programme, just a really positive, creative, enjoyable watch.

Here's to a good week ahead x
