Spring

This week we celebrated the first official day of Spring and woke this morning to the hour moving forward, lighter evenings on the horizon!

I spent all of yesterday gutting the children's wardrobes. Sophie had the date marked in the diary, something she'd been putting off for ages but with her confidence growing and the pounds dropping away, we got on with it.

Of course she also has a shopping date in the diary and now has a list of things she wants to buy! The charity shops are going to love her. Sam has nothing left in his wardrobe, bar 2 t-shirts and a couple of sweatshirts. Pinning him down to a shopping trip is most unlikely, until he literally has to go!

Sophie and I enjoyed the first of the warm sunshine out in the garden for an hour this afternoon...

.... the shorts even went on for the first time this year. The forecast is not looking great for the next few days ahead, so it's a case of enjoying it whilst you can. Jeff doesn't break up until Thursday evening, I'm working all week and the kids whilst both on holiday, should be busy revising for A Levels and GCSE's. I'm not looking forward to the next few months, exam wise but then once it's done, they can both enjoy the summer

Stuck!

It's been a funny old week of normal really! Nothing exciting to report, nothing but normal has really happened this week. I worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, day off on Friday! Sophie had her last ever parents evening, all good to report, just those pesky exams to get done and over with now before the next adventure begins. Slimming World, then clothes shopping with the boy this morning and cookies baked for the week ahead this afternoon, before work again tomorrow.

Desperately needing, wanting, pleading for Spring to arrive (properly) it's blumin freezing again today. I need some warm sunshine pronto, completely fed up of the cold now.

Here's hoping the Easter break will be lovely and sunny x

Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day, this was taken yesterday on a rare day out with my two.
When did Sam get so tall????

I'd arranged with my Dad to surprise my Mum for Mother's Day
and I think she was happy to see us!

We met at Lifton Farm Shop, near Tavistock - a good halfway'ish meet up spot for lunch. It was certainly busy, good food and a nice chance to catch up. Sophie drove there and back, good motorway experience and she did really well - can't believe she's been driving for nearly a year now! Jeff was working, as he always has to on a Saturday - he gets longer holidays to make up for it but we do miss him not being around.

Of course on Mother's Day I remember Jeff's Mum, who sadly passed away 10 years ago now.
She is very much missed by us all x

My two surprised me with flowers and the 'Greatest Showman' CD - Sophie and I loved the film and I'd wanted the soundtrack ever since seeing the film. It will be the soundtrack to many a car journey in the future I'm sure and much to Sam's dismay too!!

Now the snow has gone, Spring has certainly been showing itself. These are the grounds up at Jeff's school, always worth going up to see. This was taken en route to yoga - not still light at 6pm.

Hope it's a good week ahead x

My everything - Happy Mother's Day x

Friday 2 March 2018

Hello March!

Well March you made your arrival well and truly known - the 'Beast of the East' arrived later in Somerset than other parts of the country. I secretly hoped we'd got away without any of the snow and disruption but no!!

After the 'do we go to school, don't we' debate on Thursday morning, I decided to keep the kids at home, as I was working and wouldn't be able to go in early to collect them. Thankfully school then officially closed at 12:30 and made the sensible decision to close all day today (Friday). It was like Christmas at work, soooooo busy and the bread and milk aisles were left bare by early afternoon.

I hate the snow and the disruption it causes but these two waited all day for there to be enough snow to go out in!

I must be getting old, I much prefer looking at it from the warmth and comfort of inside!

We've woken this morning to iced up windows and drifting snow and ice, as the winds have been so strong and bitterly cold. Jeff went off to work this morning, no excuse for a snow day as he's just a 5 minute walk away. I cancelled my coffee date plans, thankfully I wasn't due to work today, and have a day at home with the kids, who are currently outside, making the most of the snow!!

The Tor is looking white and wintery this morning.....

But my poor daffs aren't loving the wintery look!!
I thought I'd chosen the perfect spot - lovely view from the kitchen window, sheltered corner but alas the wind and the cold and now the snow have got the better of them.

These two are out again making the most of it before it goes. Got them clearing the snow off the soft top as it's now just ice. More snow is forecast, got no plans for tomorrow but I'm back in work again on Sunday, hoping I don't have to walk in but we'll see.

Love it or hate it, there's not much we can do about it but stay safe and warm.
Have a good weekend x
