Wednesday Weekly Catch-up!!

If you followed along on our travels via Instagram, this will be old news. If you didn't, here's a catch-up from the past few weeks. A bit of copy, cut and paste I'm afraid.

First week away!!1/5

We have arrived in Zakynthos, had a day trip down memory lane, to Laganas (last time was 1994!!) Had to leave a day early due to ferry issues and get an early bus up to the north of the island to get a ferry to Kefalonia, then a transfer across to the port of Sami. Stayed in a lovely spot right by the sea. Enjoyed a day in Sami before getting the ferry to Ithaca, where we picked up our hire car! Have had 4 lovely days exploring the beautiful island of Ithaca....Sarakiniko Beach, Kioni, Frikes, the views from the Monastery of Katharon, Filiatro beach and back to Sarakiniko again, before heading off to Fiskardo on Kefalonia.

Second week away completed 2/5

We started the new week by moving islands. Farewell Ithaca - Kaliméra Kefalonia. 

We spent four days in beautiful Fiskardo, enjoying the fabulous Foki and Emplysi Beach.

Then on Monday we got a ferry across to Lefkada, staying in Vasiliki, a place we last visited in 1998!! We loved it then and we have fallen in love with it all over again. Having found our old secret beach, a really happy memory, I felt 27 again!! Explored Lefkada Town for the first time, a surprisingly place full of colour, character and charm.

Third week away completed 3/5

Last week were were still in Vasiliki on Lefkada. We moved to Meganisi via ferry on Friday, where we spent 4 fabulous days. A much quieter island, with little to no public transport, so lots of walking. Had the luxury of a pool and more importantly, the use of a washing machine.

We had a big travel day moving via ferry, then bus, then taxi, then bus again to reach Parga on the mainland. We last visited here in 1995. It's short and sweet, as we move on to Paxos.

Fourth week away completed 4/5

So we started our week leaving the mainland and the beautiful resort of Parga, heading up to Igoumenista by bus, to catch the ferry across to the island of Paxos, where we spent 5 days exploring the beautiful island. It is such a chilled, relaxed, beautiful, quiet island. We did explore Lakka and Gaios but also spent much of our time on Marmari beach.

Then we were on the move again, getting a ferry up to the island of Corfu, our last island. Spent a fabulous evening revisiting Corfu Town and then bused it to Paleokastritsa, which was sadly far too busy to enjoy.

Fifth and final week away completed 5/5

So we started our week basing ourselves in Corfu Town, revisiting the places we first went to in 1993!! Roda, exactly as we remembered, flat, sandy, shallow sea, not much there. Sidari, much busier and developed now. We also went to Pontikonisi and Mouse Island, new to us and on Corfu's flight path, a Jeff highlight!

The second half of the week was a return to Kalami, a quiet bay in the North East of the island. The perfect place to relax, end our Ionian adventure and celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary

Heading home with next year's summer flights already booked!
