Proud! Graduation Day

Yesterday as a wonderful day of celebration......

.....but it was hot, very HOT!!!!

Sophie's Graduation Day!

Very proud MUM!

Very proud DAD!

After a very uncomfortable 2 hour car journey to Reading, in a Micra with no air conditioning, there wasn't much relief when you got out of the car, so we headed in search of an air conditioned building to kill a little time. We always arrive early and today was no different!

Buses were put on to take everyone down to a different campus where the ceremony was taking place.

Now this lady is the reason Sophie choose Reading. It was her talk 5 years ago, on an Open Day that swayed Sophie to put Reading down as her first choice. She spoke passionately about the career support they gave and how valuable a Placement Year was and how they supported the students during that time. She did mock interviews, helped with writing CV's, gave information about volunteering, placement opportunities, so it was lovely to see her and thank her for all she had done.

So wristband on, we now could officially attend Graduation!!

The Hall was lovely but not air conditioned, so a hot hour!

I was lent a fan by one of the mum's!!

And there she is - lining up to receive her degree certificate.

A few of her fellow Economic friends

Me and my girl xx

Proud dad xx

Proud Parents.

The Graduate!!

3,2,1......

After the official ceremony, we then had to attend the Economic Departments Prize Giving

Sophie won the Peter Hart Award for her contribution to the Economics Department during her time at the University. She volunteered on Open Days, spoke about her Placement Year experience and was voted the Course Rep for the three years she was at Uni.

It was a wonderful day, although 10 degrees cooler would have made it a little better!

Quick change of footwear!!

Final farewell to the Economics Building

And a sunset to enjoy on the way home!!

We cancelled the lunch we had booked due to the heat, so we are out tonight to celebrate. Sam is currently away with friends in Weymouth but anyone could watch the live streaming, so hopefully her grandparents got to see her moment and feel part of her special day xx
