It's official!

Today it is official, letters have gone out to the parents today - my last day of teaching 'ever' will be next Friday.

Some of you will say 'but I thought you gave up teaching before' - I had, but after a year off, doing just a little supply, I was persuaded to go back one day a week. The decision had to be made before I did my first trade show in July last year. On reflection it was a mistake, life became sooooo busy as a result of the show but being the super organised person I am, I thought I could manage one day a week. Well I was wrong and after a very busy Christmas, I made the decision to stop and handed in my notice.

And this time it really is the end!!!

A month ago, when moving to our new premises I donated all my teaching resources - 40 boxes in total, to my children's school. I will miss the children and all the spotty things they bring in to show me. I will miss thinking up the activities and the staffroom chat but I will relish in the extra hours the day will bring and hope that I can claim back at least one whole day of the weekend to family time!!

I have taught on and off for the past 18 years, so a big part of me will walk out of the door next Friday but I am determined to make a real success of dots and spots and for it to be my full time job for the next 18 years.

Good for you! Your business needs the whole you, your family needs a bit of your time, and you leave knowing you have done your best for all the children in the past and now.
You will go from strength to strength

I work at school, so I know how hard teachers work, the preparation for one day probably takes another day! Well done on making the right choice, your family life will only benefit, and therefore your happiness too.

Congratulations and all the best for your future. It must be a wrench and exciting all in one go. I am sure your business with move from strenght to strength you have such a stunning style and product. Can i just ask did you get your dresser from the same shop that you mentioned in your last post? We are currently on exchange in the falkland Islands but coming home to Crudwell in Wiltshire in July. I am planning a complete redec in some of our rooms and want some more vintage or beaten up pieces as I call them! Enjoy your new found family time, they grow up and leave to quickly.

Hi Helensh

The dresser was from another of my little shops in a place called High Littleton - not far up the road - you could certainly visit in one trip. But time it in when the Giant Flea Market is on at the Bath and West showground - starts at 9.30am - you would find loads of fabulous things there - if you are interested this old post gives you the dates http://dotsandspotsdesign.blogspot.com/2011/02/braving-showers-for-flea-market-finds.html
