Half term

It's half term, HURRAY!! - a much needed break. Sam's carpet went down, Jeff started building Ikea furniture the day his holiday started and....

....I spent all weekend unpacking Sam into his new room.

It's looking good!
Just a little bit more to do then I can tick him off the list. It's tricky to style a room for a teenage boy but I think it looks okay.

I can't quite get over how Sam seems to be growing up. Since his Birthday in the Summer, he just seems to have shot up. We usually go to London in the half term break but are too busy this year. Whilst there we always take a photo of Sam beside the tube sign, to keep track of how tall he's getting - well I remembered to take the photo of us together, minus the sign this year - he's getting so tall.

I enjoyed a day out in Bath earlier on and had a free lunch date with my sister. The lovely people from Giraffe got in touch following my Daily Mirror article. They offered me a free meal to celebrate my weight loss achievements - how kind. It was really lovely and great to have a child free catch up with my sister too x

We've just got home from a quick trip to Cornwall - a chance to see my Mum and Dad and a couple of visits to see my Granny. We even managed to squeeze in a couple of hours at St Ives and had lunch at our favourite spot 'The Hub'.

So tomorrow I'm back off to Bath with Sophie for the day, Sam's off out with friends and Jeff is busy clearing the garage space ready for the builders to start!! There was a chance they were going to start today but we all decided Monday is easier with everyone out of the way. So we're making the most of our builder free days before the mess and chaos starts!!

Another week.....

So another week whizzing by - I've been busy painting Sam's room in between doing all the normal stuff. I still have the woodwork to do this weekend, ready for the carpet fitters to arrive on Tuesday. I love the colour he's chosen, it should all look really good when he's in!

We had some great news, out planning application for our extension has been approved. Due to the cost, we've had to go for a single storey extension rather than a double but my dream 'live in, big family kitchen' is getting closer to becoming a reality. Work will hopefully start in half term week!

I've treated myself to a couple of dresses for the upcoming festive season. Dresses and I, have never really gone together so this is a first for me and I'm wearing tights for the first time in 15 years!!!

This weekends treat is an Apple Betty still SW friendly and delicious - recipe HERE

Right I'm off to have a quick bit of lunch then get cracking on my painting, have a lovely weekend.

Mid October!

Sophie just said to me 'I'm surprised you haven't blogged for a while'.
Goodness knows where the time is going - over a week since my last post - sorry.

It's been a big week for Sam - finally after 5+ years of treatment he got to have his braces off! Boy that must of felt good and french stick was back on the menu to his delight. At the beginning of the process I often wondered if he'd ever have two front teeth but slowly but surely, with a little help (well a lot of help) it is here and here to stay!

I've been plodding on with Sam's room - it's hard to get reasonable chunks of time together to have a good go of it but I only have until a week on Tuesday to get it done, ready for the carpet fitters. So this weekend I'm hoping I've got all the white done, now to add the colour x

I'm still pushing myself to run 3 times a week - Monday and Wednesday mornings after school drop off, have become my 5k routine (weather depending) and on Saturdays I've started to push myself to a 7k. I reckon I could easily run a 10k now, it just takes too long and I don't want to not enjoy it.

My slow cooker has been become a joy find in the move. I bought it years ago, it got hidden in the back of a cupboard and when we moved I was determined to start using it. We had fabulous pulled pork a week or so ago and beef brisket was on the menu this weekend. The smells all day are torturous but oh so worth it.

I hope your October isn't disappearing quite so quickly as mine seems to be - I must say I am looking forward to half term though and a few lazy mornings.

Have a good week x
