Birthday time!!

Happy Birthday dear Mum........

So it was my Birthday yesterday - a young 45!!

I decided to have a guilt free 'off plan' day and started it off with delicious white toast with butter and rhubarb and ginger jam - YUM!

Sophie, Sam and I then headed off to Bristol for lunch (Jeff was working) and the main event, Mary Poppins at the Hippodrome. I last saw it 11 years ago when Sophie was 5 and it was her first outing to Musical theatre - we have certainly seen a lot more since.

It was truly supercalifragilisticexpialidocious x

I opened my presents when I got home and was speechless!
The boy did good!!

Tickets to see Scouting for Girls at Cardiff in just 4 weeks time and then....

.......tickets to see TAKE THAT (again) at Hyde Park in July!!!!

What a lucky girl am I?

Sweet Sixteen

Sixteen years ago this tiny little bundle entered my world and I wouldn't have changed a thing!
Being a Mum is such a wonderful gift and being Mum to Sophie and then Sam, has been the best gift I've ever been given.

I loved putting this photo collage together - although going through boxes of photo's over in storage wasn't too much fun! But wow, how great to look back at a photo taken on each of her '16' birthdays. I was reminded of all the parties and themes and family gatherings and outings to celebrate the special day each year.

Poor girl is currently in the middle of her mock exams so won't be celebrating with friends for another couple of weeks. She had her room done as part of her birthday present during the Summer and ended up with my old i-phone when I recently upgraded, so there weren't many gifts to open today.

I did however want to get her something to keep, to remember her sixteenth and thought these framed quotation prints were a perfect keepsake.

And of course there was cake!
Wouldn't be a birthday without cake x

Need to 'gear' myself up ready for next year's celebrations,
as she'll be able to learn how to drive!!!!!

Building work has started!!!!

So as November begins, so the building work starts!

The builders only arrived at midday and by the time I arrived back from the school run, the little shed was already down, the roof tiles were off and eek! it really felt like things were happening.

Got back this morning and the roof was down - so good to see such progress!
Fingers crossed this bodes well for the rest of the build x

EDIT

Got back tonight and it's gone!!

Half term

It's half term, HURRAY!! - a much needed break. Sam's carpet went down, Jeff started building Ikea furniture the day his holiday started and....

....I spent all weekend unpacking Sam into his new room.

It's looking good!
Just a little bit more to do then I can tick him off the list. It's tricky to style a room for a teenage boy but I think it looks okay.

I can't quite get over how Sam seems to be growing up. Since his Birthday in the Summer, he just seems to have shot up. We usually go to London in the half term break but are too busy this year. Whilst there we always take a photo of Sam beside the tube sign, to keep track of how tall he's getting - well I remembered to take the photo of us together, minus the sign this year - he's getting so tall.

I enjoyed a day out in Bath earlier on and had a free lunch date with my sister. The lovely people from Giraffe got in touch following my Daily Mirror article. They offered me a free meal to celebrate my weight loss achievements - how kind. It was really lovely and great to have a child free catch up with my sister too x

We've just got home from a quick trip to Cornwall - a chance to see my Mum and Dad and a couple of visits to see my Granny. We even managed to squeeze in a couple of hours at St Ives and had lunch at our favourite spot 'The Hub'.

So tomorrow I'm back off to Bath with Sophie for the day, Sam's off out with friends and Jeff is busy clearing the garage space ready for the builders to start!! There was a chance they were going to start today but we all decided Monday is easier with everyone out of the way. So we're making the most of our builder free days before the mess and chaos starts!!

Another week.....

So another week whizzing by - I've been busy painting Sam's room in between doing all the normal stuff. I still have the woodwork to do this weekend, ready for the carpet fitters to arrive on Tuesday. I love the colour he's chosen, it should all look really good when he's in!

We had some great news, out planning application for our extension has been approved. Due to the cost, we've had to go for a single storey extension rather than a double but my dream 'live in, big family kitchen' is getting closer to becoming a reality. Work will hopefully start in half term week!

I've treated myself to a couple of dresses for the upcoming festive season. Dresses and I, have never really gone together so this is a first for me and I'm wearing tights for the first time in 15 years!!!

This weekends treat is an Apple Betty still SW friendly and delicious - recipe HERE

Right I'm off to have a quick bit of lunch then get cracking on my painting, have a lovely weekend.
