Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter.
We have blue skies and sunshine but a cold wind, which annoyingly is keeping us indoors.
Sam is working, extra pay!! I however, have a rare Sunday off!
Still getting used to having a full house. Jeff and I were supposed to take our balloon flight on Tuesday. It's our 4th attempt and it was cancelled again!! The weather conditions were absolutely perfect but the ground was too wet!!! So we try again, although there is no date currently available that we can book! I can visualise me writing this again in about 5 years time, still having not flown!!
My 6th visit to the chiropractor went well, he's happy with my progress. We have a two week break, he's on holiday, then we are, so I'm going to keep up with all the advice he's given me and I'm hopeful I may have turned a corner, fingers crossed the improvement continues.
We are off on our travels soon, leaving Sam in charge here at home!! Have been getting into the Greek feels with a fab programme on More4 'Home Greek Home'. What I wouldn't give to have the money to do something similar. Basically she bought a house on Skiathos, unseen during lockdown, for 100K and then has probably spent that again doing it up.....but it's a fabulous place now.
Not Greece but a rainy Cornwall!
On Wednesday the 4 of us squeezed into my little KA and did the 6 hour round trip to Cornwall and back, to see my family for an early Easter lunch. My sister and niece were already down there and it was a chance for Sophie and Sam to spend time with everyone, before they head back to Cardiff.
Jeff has done a bit out in the garden this week.
Good Friday was a beautiful day.
First lunch of the year, enjoyed outside in the garden.
Beautiful blue skies and warmth to the sunshine.
Easter Saturday however, was disappointing.
The wind was cold and there was cloud on and off all day, so any plans to sit out in the garden were soon dismissed.
I made an Easter cake.
When we get back from our little trip away, I am going to be 100% on it! I have a 30 year Uni Reunion and our family holiday fast approaching and I want to feel fabulous. So with my back improving, the weather improving and the prospect of warmer, sunnier, brighter days ahead, I'm ready to look after me!! It will be 8 years this May since I lost all the weight and was at my tiniest ever!! I appreciate that that is a completely unrealistic goal now, eight years on and menopausal but......I do want to lose a stone, two if I can and just feel fitter and healthier in myself. I am proud of the fact that I have managed to keep most of the weight off over the past 8 years and it's only in the last 2 years that I've really struggled. I blame it on lockdown, work, my back, the menopause, lack of motivation but......it's time to focus on me again, change my mindset and go for it!
So Eater Sunday and a rare Sunday off, last of the treats.
I'd hoped to spend my day off in the garden but that chill in the air is still there. I'm cooking a roast for tea, Hot Cross Buns for breakfast, eggs and avocado on toasted sourdough for lunch. My last big cooking day! I really do not enjoy endless cooking, meal planning/shopping anymore. I love having everyone home but can't wait to it just being Jeff and I with regards to meals!
Sophie heads back to Cardiff Monday evening, Sam is sticking around, hoping to pick up a few extra shifts at Sainsbury's and can house sit for us. We head off for a few days, our first adventure of 2023. I'll post photo's on my travel Instagram page @hap_pea_travels if you are interested.
My plan today is to start packing!
I'm working an 8 hour shift tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday, hoping my back holds out. Am having to work my Easter Sunday hours as I've no holiday left to take, so am doing another 8 hour shift on Tuesday. Bit of a slog but then it's off to Bristol Airport early hours of Wednesday morning and the holiday feels can begin x
