Pinch and a punch......
.....hello August!
I started the month off with a trip to Wells with Jan. It was a belated leaving treat for me and a day out for her. The weather thankfully stayed dry but it's certainly not feeling like summer!!
Came home to a special delivery!!
I have treated myself to a new rucksack for our Summer Adventure next year. I have done loads and loads of research to get to this point. We have decided to take rucksacks, as we'll be moving around every 4/5 days, on and off ferries and wheeling a suitcase around would just be too awkward. This has a ventilation panel, so the actual thick chunk of the rucksack doesn't sit on you back. It is front loading, rather than top, so easier to pack and find your stuff, just like a suitcase. It's specifically made for women, has an adjustable harness, so will fit your frame perfectly and a wide padded hip belt for comfort. The rain cover doubles up as a carry case to keep all the straps and belt together for hold luggage. I went for a 50lt, what can't fit doesn't come. At the end of the day I have to be able to carry it. It should hold everything, as it's in-between our cabin and medium suitcases for size.
Sophie came home on Tuesday evening, her car is due it's MOT and she'd rather be home, with Jeff around in case any major decisions had to be made. No need to worry, it passed!!
And on Wednesday, it was our 27th Wedding Anniversary.
We had no plans, so it was lovely to be invited over to Jeff's sisters for the evening, as A. Janet was down for a few days. As always, a lovely catch up, delicious food and non stop chat!
On Friday, the weather looked dry, although still unseasonably cold but all the rain has encouraged the dahlias to flower. So we went over to Farrington Gurney, to their PYO Dahlia event.
£7 for 15 stems!
This time last year, Jeff and I went over to pick sunflowers.
They're much further behind this year, still it will be a good excuse to go back!
How lovely do these look!!?
The three of us went to see Barbie in the evening at Strode. Sophie had already been with friends, was interested to see what all the hype was about. It was okay, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either.
Then on Saturday, with rain and strong gusty winds forecast.......
......Sophie and I headed to Bristol for the day.
I booked these tickets way back in November, expecting it be a lovely, warm, sunshiny August day! It was cold, wet and windy!!! So a good idea to be sat inside a theatre. Maybe a slightly generous dose of the air-con, given the lack of warmth and sunshine!!
Typically the sun came out about 8pm!!
It really has been a wet, cold July and start of August.
It's usually through the winter months, that I buy flowers to brighten things up...
....not August!!
